4th Ave Full Street Reconstruction

Project Update

Sanitary main and storm mail will be installed this week.

Project Objectives

  • Full reconstruct of 4th Avenue (from 9th Street to 11th Street).
  • Improve street surface conditions.
  • Replace deteriorating utility infrastructure.
  • Enhance the downtown corridor streetscape.

Proposed Improvements – Reconstruction

  • Replace all storm sewer, water and sanitary sewer mains and services.
  • Construct a new concrete street.
  • Construct concrete sidewalks with colored treatments.
  • Pedestrian bump-outs at intersections.
  • New ornamental street lighting.

Pavement Restoration

Project Updates

Should start work on Wednesday July 23, 2025

Project Objectives

Improvement of road surface; replacement of some outdated underground utilities

Proposed Improvement

Remove and replace bituminous pavement; remove and replace some storm structures and pipes; remove and replace a sanitary manhole and pipes

Project Area

Pershing Boulevard, Liberty Drive, Betty Avenue, Godfrey Street, Leon Avenue, Grandview Street

Centennial Trail Reconstruction

Project Updates

Complete and open for pedestrians 

Project Objectives

Improvement of trail surface and ADA conditions

Proposed Improvement

Remove and replace bituminous surface with concrete surface; install ADA-abiding sidewalk

East 9th Ave Recon Main at 11th St

Project Updates

All is complete. Street is open to traffic.

Murray Avenue Street Reconstruction

Project Updates

While waiting for the bituminous pavers, Hennings will continue laying topsoil disturbed vegetation areas in preparation for seeding. 

Proposed Improvement

Remove and replace the existing bituminous pavement with new pavement; remove and replace certain storm structures and pipes; and remove and replace a sanitary structure.

6th Avenue Water and Sanitary Sewer Reconstruction

Project Updates

Sanitary services will be installed on 6th Avenue from 12th to 13th Street. By the end of the week, Hennings should proceed through the 12th Street intersection, laying more sanitary main and replacing the sanitary structure at that intersection as well.

Replacement of certain outdated underground utilities

Proposed Improvement

Remove and replace the water main, service pipes, and structures; remove and replace the sanitary main and service pipes

6th Avenue from 11th Street to 14th Street
