Becoming a Worthington Police Officer

Desirable experience and training
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college
- Previous law enforcement experience
Special requirements
- U.S. citizen
- Possession of a Peace Officer License or eligibility to be licensed through the State of Minnesota POST Board
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid, unrestricted Minnesota driver’s license
- Physical condition satisfactory to fulfill the duties of the position as determined by a physician
- Pass a thorough background investigation, psychological evaluation, medical examination, and drug test
Work environment
- Base patrol schedule: 12-hour shifts (3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off) with every other weekend off
- Well-equipped and maintained squad cars
- Assigned squads stored in a climate-controlled garage
