Church Park

Obtained from Frances M. Rogers, on May, 1913 for $500.00. Surrounding property owners donated money to assist in the city's purchase of the property for public park purposes, formerly occupied by Hose House #2. Also referred to as Drake Park (Block 7 of Drake's Addition).

Southeast Park

Portions of the park property were obtained in 1981 and 1982, through the Housing Urban Development Program (CRUD) and from Gary L. & Terry A. Markman, Central Telephone Company, and Donavan Companies, Inc.

Pirtles Park

History of Park #1 - Obtained by warranty deed, in July, 1935 from I.S. and Jenny Pirtle, for whom the park was named. This location is maintained as a green space. History of Park #2 - Purchased as a tax forfeited property in 2003. Play equipment was installed the same year.

Millard Walker Park

A quiet neighborhood park with a modern restroom facility, modular and individual playground equipment, swing set, sand volleyball court and a hard surfaced basketball court. Open picnic shelter with tables. Plenty of on street parking. Play equipment, restroom and shelter are handicap accessible. Park is handicapp accessible from on street parking areas.

Hogan's Park

Dedicated to city in 1938, by Michael and Emma Hogan in the plat of Morningside Addition; per the dedication, it was to be known as Hogan's Park.

Buss Field

Purchased by warranty deed in May, 1955 for $6,000.00 from Fred H. and Emma Buss.
Comments:
Concession Permits are variable.
Electrical and natural gas services at restroom building.
Buss Field was abandoned as a baseball field, and when the city entered into a joint use agreement with the Independent School District #518, for use of the college fields.

Watland Park

Obtained in September, 1973, from Buren and Evelyn Watland. Conveyed for park and street purposes only.

Pleasant Park

Property is leased from Independent School District #518.

Intercity Park

Obtained by warranty deed, from Arden W. and Lucille Loelz and W. Craigen and Esther F. Thom, in August, 1950 for $600.00.

Kelly Park

Property donated to city, in February, 1970, by Donovan M. and Sally Ann Johnson, developers of the surrounding residential area.

Cherry Point Park

Obtained from Karl G. and Agnes S. Dirks and John W. and Laura C. Dirks, by warranty deed, in May, 1947, for $1,600.00. The name comes from the Cherry Point Park Subdivision in which it is located. It derives its name from the choke cherry trees which once grew there.
